In early 1989, Riverside acquired the financially-troubled Tidewater Memorial Hospital, located in Tappahannock, Virginia. Renamed Riverside Tappahannock Hospital (RTH), the 92-bed facility serves citizens in a large rural area known as the Northern Neck.
Riverside has made significant changes to the hospital over the past 16 years. To enhance the quality of care provided, more than $15 million has been invested in state-of-the-art medical equipment. Two on-site medical buildings house offices for many of the more than 20 active physicians on the hospital's medical staff. The hospital's medical offices in Richmond County house primary care physicians in family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics.
RTH is committed to providing high quality healthcare services to the citizens in the Upper Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck communities. The hospital is accredited with commendation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
