- Educational instruction is geared to the individual’s needs by highly skilled, licensed educators in our on-unit classrooms
- Programming encourages the individual to focus on their issues, explore untapped resources, develop a sense of self-worth and nurture healthy, positive relationship with
others - Therapy is designed to assist the individual and family to cope with emotional, behavioral, or psychological problems from a variety of issues including abuse and neglect

Our Focus:
- Earning points/levels through positive behavior, accomplishing challenges, taking responsibility, and self reliance
- Providing direction, support and new problem-solving skills while learning to cope with life issues
- Providing programs that are developmentally appropriate

What are the components of the RBHC residential program?
Individualized treatment is determined by the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (led by a board-certified Child Psychiatrist).
- Activities Therapy – recreation, fitness, wellness, pool, gym
- Psychoeducational groups
- Life skills instruction/skills development
- Recreation/leisure outings
- Art Therapy
- Medication education and management
- Medical assessment and evaluation
- Monthly treatment planning sessions
- Substance abuse education groups
- Education through Riverside Academy, licensed by the Virginia Department of Education
- Nutrition assessment/education
Creative Programming:
- Life skills planning, budgeting, cooking, laundry, community involvement, application and resume writing
- Yoga
- Knitting/crocheting
- Computer labs
- Gardening
- Boy Scouts
- Mentor Program
- Junior Achievement
- Pen Pals

- The Admissions Committee needs the following information to evaluate potential candidates for the residential program:

- IEP
- Birth Certificate
- Social History
- Statement of medical necessity for the residential level of care
