Riverside Health System Foundation was created by Riverside Health System in 1999 to benefit the community.  It is comprised of public contributions and contributions from Riverside Health System.  The Foundation continues to grow with gifts from individuals, families, organizations, corporations and private foundations.  The common bond among donors is a desire to support charitable community causes and qualified non-profit organizations that help improve the health of our community and make Southeast Virginia a better place to live, work and raise a family.

Gifts of Hope

Philanthropy has several dimensions at Riverside – we share important values with our employees and our community members. Our purpose is to encourage a deeper involvement in the health and quality of life in Southeast Virginia.

Throughout 2007, the RHS Foundation has continued to grow with gifts from individuals, families, organizations and corporations. Through Riverside gift destinations like the Riverside School of Health Careers, our cancer programs, hospice services and our various facilities we help our families, patients, employees and concerned members of the community to fulfill their need to give hope, health and well being to the patients and families served by Riverside.

How you can make a Gift of Hope:

• Make an unrestricted gift: These contributions allow Riverside to use your donation where it is needed most. Medical science evolves quickly, and we need to continue to respond quickly to support the health care needs of the communities we serve.  Unrestricted gifts allow us to continually enhance program, equipment and facility needs.

• Make a designated or restricted gift:  These contributions can be designated by the donor for a particular Riverside facility or for one of the Riverside Health System Funds.

How you can make a deferred Gift of Hope:

• Make a pledge– We ask for your intention of what you would like to contribute over a 5-year period.  We will record your pledge and each year you will receive a reminder of what you have indicated. The pledge is not legally binding.

• Make a charitable bequest – We welcome a charitable bequest provision in which you designate Riverside in your Last Will and Testament or Trust Agreement.

Baby's Birth Day Fund

The Riverside Baby's Birth Day Fund was established in memory of "Mama Mary" Thompson who for 25 years touched the lives of more than 30,000 families at Riverside Regional Medical Center through her work in the labor and delivery unit.  This fund supports the program and equipment needs of the Birthing and Family Services department.
