Become a Nurse at Riverside

Riverside is firmly committed to leadership in the region for nursing excellence. Our commitment to nursing extends back to 1916, when the Riverside School of Professional Nursing was founded.

Riverside offers an extremely competitive and flexible compensation and benefits package for nursing careers.

Diverse Opportunities
Riverside’s wide variety of nursing opportunities throughout the fully integrated health care delivery organization provides literally hundreds of different career roles for nursing professionals, with easy transition and movement across the organization.

Team Dynamics and Scheduling
Flexible Scheduling - Many of our facilities and units have "team scheduling" which allows the employees to select their desired shifts and days of work on a month-to-month basis. Most employees use this team dynamic to arrange their work days/hours around family life, school and other outside priorities.

Flexibility
Each member of the nursing team may choose which benefits in which they enroll, tailored to their needs. For example, at Riverside Regional Medical Center, there is an option for nurses to elect no benefits in lieu of a higher rate of pay.

Advancement
Scholarship Programs – The Riverside Health System Foundation offers scholarships each year in nursing and other health careers.

Tuition Reimbursement - Riverside offers full-time (full tuition, books and 1/2 salary) and part-time (reimbursement for up to 18 credit hours per year) educational assistance to qualified employees on an ongoing basis.

Educational Opportunities with Staff Development – Riverside Regional Medical Center offers educational opportunities with contact hours approved by ANA and VNA. There is a beginner and an advanced Critical Care Course and an Operating Room Clinical Internship Program. These programs are available to Riverside employees periodically throughout each year.

Electronic Learning - Riverside provides electronic learning as well as traditional classroom and lab venues.

Staff development provides nurses with review and assistance in preparation for specialty certifications, use of evidence-based practice and a splendid Health Sciences Library.

Clinical Advancement Program at Riverside Regional Medical Center
Nurses at Riverside Regional Medical Center are eligible for Riverside Clinical Advancement Programs, a recognition of clinical expertise and experience that provides two levels of achievement.

Preceptor Orientation
Riverside offers very focused preceptorships on each unit. This allows the nurse to become competent and comfortable with all tasks prior to completing orientation. For units at Riverside Regional Medical Center, orientation will last from 6-12 weeks depending on past nursing experience.

Child Care
Employees are eligible to use the accredited Riverside Child Development & Learning Center at very competitive rates. The center, located in Oyster Point Industrial Park at 11879 Canon Blvd, offers children a stimulating, safe, and educational environment.

Coming Back
Nurse Re-entry - Nurses who have not been practicing and who wish to re-enter the nursing profession can take advantage of Riverside Regional Medical Center’s one-on-one precepting through the Staff Development department.
